The pupils of 4th/5th class had an eventful and fun outing for their school tour this week. The tour commenced with a trip to the Lifetime Lab where the boys learned about the history of the old Cork City Waterworks. The children learned about the science behind water filtration and got to take part in an experiment to investigate the filtration process. In the old water works, the children learned about the hard work involved in extracting and filtering water from the river Lee before reaching the city reservoirs. The children then paid a visit to Cork City Gaol where they got to see some of the old prison cells and learn about the types of sentencing handed down for petty crimes. The highlight of the tour for the whole class was the trip to the Planet where the children were treated to an hour of bowling. Everyone really enjoyed themselves and there were a few “strikes” and “spares” on show so well done to all the boys.
