The purpose of the student council is to give our students a voice in BMMS. It creates opportunities for the development of leadership, responsibility and improved communication between staff and students. It successfully develops a sense of ownership and belonging. A committee of representatives (three students from each class) meet weekly with Ms.Hogan to address the issues their individual classes have suggested need attention and to encourage students to innovate and put forward new ideas and creative solutions to improve daily school life. After each meeting, the student council representatives meet with Principal Mr. O’Donoghue to discuss the topics raised by student council. Their responses are communicated back to the committee during the subsequent follow up meeting. The student council has grown strength by strength and we hope this year will be no exception in ensuring the student voice makes a real difference.
