Mar a deir an seanfhocal:
Tús maith leath na hoibre. This is particularly apt considering the fantastic start we have had to the year here in 5th class!!!! Bhíomar ag déanamh dramaí beaga, ag imirt cluichí cósúil le “fiche ceist” agus “seas ar an spota te.” Bhíomar ag canadh amhráin deasa agus bhí dánta de ghach sórt á athrá againn. Bhaineamar an taitneamh as na ceachtanna Ghaeilge.
During our English lessons we wrote some very entertaining stories and some interesting recount pieces also. We are currently reading a novel called Holes by Louis Sacher and when we finish we hope to watch the movie and compare the two!! We thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles and problems during Maths Week. Mangahigh on the iPads was one of the major highlights of the week. We learned all about Leonardo da Vinci’s early life, patrons, inventions and of course we couldn’t study da Vinci without learning about the Mona Lisa. We had some fun during art reconstructing the Mona Lisa with a humorous twist using felt, check out the pictures!! We looked in-depth at line drawing and used the template of the Mona Lisa to experiment with line also. We have been very active every Monday and Friday during our PE lessons; from dodgeball, olympic handball and rounders to circuits, some core work and of course soccer !!
We have been spending quite a bit of time on drama over the last 2 months. Using the theme of The Green Children in September we created family trees and freeze frames of the village people. In October we moved on to the theme of The Iron Man, where we took up character roles and created dialogue pieces using the characters in the story. We did a lot of mindfulness and wellbeing during SPHE and we also learned about our character strengths. We finished off today by dressing up for Halloween. Lots done but lots more to do!! We have included some pictures of ourselves in action, we hope you enjoy them!!
