Last week, the pupils in 5th and 6th class took part in a GOAL workshop. We learned about the work that GOAL completes and explored the challenges that face people in the aftermath of natural disasters. We worked to find solutions in small groups and also got the opportunity to think about and design materials that would be of use to people following an earthquake. We were given everyday materials including tin foil, plastic bottles, plastic, sponges, cloth, string, cork and plastic bags. Some of the items we designed included beds and toilets. It was a really interesting workshop and increased our awareness of what people experience during natural disasters.
