There’s a fine line between a numerator and a denominator (only a fraction of people will find this funny!)
Cheesy maths-puns aside …….. the pupils of 4th/5th class have been working really hard this past few weeks learning all about the numerator and denominator and the relationship between fractions and division in a practical way. This week we concluded our work on fractions by exploring and comparing what appear to be different fractions; the pupils learned about equivalent fractions and how to make their own through paper-folding activities. They then progressed to manipulating numerators and denominators using a fraction-bar app on the iPads. This enabled them to clearly see for themselves how fractions are equivalent even when the numerator/denominator digits are different. Well done to all the boys for their hard work in grasping the concept of fractions.
