Last week we studied the Renaissance. Renaissance art is often divided into two periods, the Early and High Renaissance. Early Renaissance was from 1400-1479 and High Renaissance was from 1475-1525.  We looked up a lot of our information on various websites.

The Renaissance is full of artists, scientists, poets and all great creators.

It began in Italy and spread to the rest of Europe.

There were many new developments made in science, medicine, astronomy and maths.

Johann Gutenberg invented the printing press in 1450.

Leonardo Da Vinci painted the Mona Lisa and the Last Supper. He was also a great mathematician and sculptor.

Michelangelo was a sculptor and painter. The Statue of David and the Sistine chapel are some of his famous works.

The Prince by Machiavelli and Courtier by Castiglione were two books written. Shakespeare became widely read during this time.

For art we made St. Peters Basilica in Rome. Materials used were black card, empty cereal boxes string, cardboard and paint. We also did Mona Lisa Paintings.
